Choosing your photographer
is a very important decision. But how do you go about choosing one with so
many around? Here are three important considerations when choosing a wedding
photographer:
The first consideration is accreditation. We are members of PPSA
(Professional Photographers of Southern Africa). PPSA is the only
professional organization for photographers in Southern Africa. Membership
not only ensures the expertise of the photographer but also protects the
rights of the client. Lourens serves on the Gauteng Committee of PPSA. He
annually judges the final year student portfolios of the National College of
Photography, Vega Group. Lourens has had two exhibitions of his fine art
work. We have both won numerous awards for our wedding photography including
gold awards for weddings in the FUJIFILM Photographic Awards for three
consecutive years.
The second consideration is the style of photography. Each photographer has
his or her own style - traditional, photo journalistic or artistic. Our
style of wedding photography is artistic real-life documentary photography–
we tell the story of your wedding, beautifully and truthfully. The only way
by which one can judge the style of a photographer is by looking at their
portfolio. The ideal is to view a selection of photographs from several
real-life weddings, not just the best photograph of every wedding. We have a
gallery of wedding photopraphs (see mini albums / gallery) where you can see
for yourself our style of photography and the quality of our work.
The third consideration is whether you like your photographer. Surely you
should like and feel comfortable with your photographer as you will be
spending time together for the greater part of your wedding day. Someone
with a calming influence is by far preferable on such an emotionally laden
day. We are a friendly, patient and helpful. We are not going to dominate
your day or throw artistic tantrums.
We encourage you to come to our studio to meet us. We would love to get to
know you. Wedding photography is not only about an album, it’s a whole
experience.
