Curriculum Vitae:
Lourens Uitenweerde is a Licentiate Member of PPSA (Professional
Photographers of Southern Africa).
He serves on the Gauteng Committee of PPSA.
He annually judges the final year student portfolios of the National College
of Photography, Vega Group.
Lourens has had two exhibitions of his fine art work.
He completed modules in law and art at UNISA and University of Pretoria.
Experience:
Lourens has 20 years’ experience in photography. He qualified as a forensic
ballistic expert with photography as an integral part of his work and was a
member of the British Forensic Science Society. He frequently testified in
criminal court with photographic evidence. He turned professional
photographer in 1999 by establishing his own photographic studio, EYEscape
Studios cc, in Pretoria.
Starting with mainly the CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial
Research) as client he has built up his client base to include other huge
corporations such as SABS (South African Bureau of Standards), SAPO (South
African Post Office) and the University of
Pretoria.
Lourens specializes in corporate photography. This includes photography for
annual reports, brochures and websites, external and internal
communications. He also has expertise in commercial and scientific
photography, reproduction of art and aerial photography.
Lourens is widely experienced. He has photographed from industrial factories
and furnaces to boardroom meetings and medical operations. He has extensive
experience in national and international functions, amongst others the
United Nations’ World Summit on Sustainable Development and the visits of
the British Prime Minister and of the president of the Chinese People’s
Republic to South Africa.
Lourens’ greatest asset is his creativity, his technical expertise and his
ability to photograph under great time constraints.
